Thousands more Channel Islands listeners, listening for longer

Tindle Radio stations have continued to grow their audiences in the Channel Islands, according to the latest RAJAR figures.

Jersey’s Channel 103 now has more than six in ten of the island’s adult population tuning in every week, strengthening its position as the British Isles’ most listened-to radio station by percentage reach, according to the latest RAJAR figures released today.

Channel 103 has grown its weekly quarter on quarter by 2,000 listeners to 56,400, delivering a 61% weekly reach.

The station’s share of listening has also increased to 33.4%, giving it the highest percentage reach and market share of any radio station – BBC or commercial – in the British Isles.

The new figures also show that its sister station, Island FM in Guernsey, continues to be the number one station in the bailiwick delivering the second-highest market share (31.1%) of any radio station in the British Isles.

Island FM also increased its audience by 1,600 compared to the previous quarter.

Tindle Radio’s combined Channel Islands listenership is now 84,500 and total hours of 939.600 meaning that 58% of the Channel Islands’ adult population listens to a Tindle station every week.

Tindle Radio CI Managing Director, James Keen, says: “With listeners across Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney now able to enjoy an even greater selection of stations on DAB, it’s fantastic to see that local content continues to connect.

“These figures are proof that the dedicated teams in Jersey and Guernsey really know what makes the islands tick.”
